I am the founder and Chief Executive of Embecosm, a provider of services, tools and models for embedded software development.
I was previously Vice President of ARC International plc, the world leader in configurable processor technology, following its acquisition of Tenison Design Automation. I had been CEO and Chief Technology Officer of Tenison, an EDA company specializing in tools for Electronic System Level (ESL) design between 2002 and its acquisition in 2007.
Until 2001, I was Vice President, Solution Sales at Marconi PLC, having previously held posts in marketing and engineering management. At the time Marconi was the largest British engineering company, and I led the introduction of Unified Modeling Language (UML) design methodologies and later agile programming into Marconi's main software development processes.
For nine years from 1986, I was on the faculty of Bath University School of Mathematical Sciences, where I pursued research interests in automated computer instruction set design and compiler technology. I am the author of Introduction to Compiling Techniques (McGraw-Hill 1990, 1996, 2003).
I hold a MA and PhD from Cambridge University, England. I am a Member of the British Computer Society, Chartered Engineer and Chartered Information Technology Professional.
