EDA Tools :: Eda tools
Description
One of the most important factors that lead to the success of the open free hardware concept is the availability of the EDA tools. Commercial EDA tools are very expensive and most individual engineers can not afford them. Currently there is a trend for free and open source EDA tools. Even companies are trying to offer their hardware specific tools for free so as to increase the popularity of their hardware.
Our idea is to try to come up with set of open source or free tools that can support the hardware designers to do their open source designs without the need to use expensive tools. http://www.opencores.org/projects.cgi/web/opentech/ (OpenTech) package compiles lot of open source tools that can be used for this reason.
In this page we will try to put links to the best and most stable software tools that are ready to use by the designers.
Please send us your suggestions to include tools to OpenTech. Please let us know your feedback or success stories in using free or open source tools in your design process to add links to them in this page and help others to use such tools.
