If you are writing your first program for the OpenRISC processor it is probably a good idea to take a look at my blog:

Hi Sven!

It's been a while - hope you've been well.

Thanks for this. Your previous blogs on EDA and embedded design have been very useful. Do you intend on doing more OpenRISC-based posts?

Cheers

Julius

Hi Julius,

Yes I am planning a benchmark (CoreMark 1.0) of the four major soft processor cores.

- OpenRISC 1200
- LEON3
- MicroBlaze
- NiosII

I have already done LEON3 and MicroBlaze.

Right now I try to figure out how to debug the Atlys board. Can I use the ORSoC JTAG cable?

Cheers
Sven

PS. How is life in England?

Interesting. Keep us posted about the results. I have seen many people asking for this on the forums

That should work. I have been planning to hook up the ORSoC JTAG cable to the PMOD connector. It should just be a matter of cross-connecting a few wires, but I haven't had time to try it yet

Sven,

Do you know how to access the GPIO pins from C or C++?

I have added information on how the generate the board file and include it in the compilation. Thanks Stefan.
