I have a SPARTAN 6 PFGA board (ATLYS, Digilient Inc.)
I've implemented in the PFGA a UART controller and I want to check it on my board.
I have XR21V1410 (Exar Inc.) USB to UART converter chip.
Does anyone knows where I can find an application to activate this chip with my laptop, so
I can verify my FPGA design?
Thanks,
Abe

Have you tried to check in the Exar website? http://www.exar.com/Common/Content/ProductDetails.aspx?ID=9546#

You can find datasheets and drivers for the XR21V1410 there.

I downloaded the driver for WINDOWS.

However, I am more interested in an off-the-shelf application that already translates
user defined commands (read, write, handshake etc.) to the EXAR device.

For example, a small LabView application that someone wrote that "knows" how to communicate
with this device through the USB interface.
(this is just an example that I wrote to convey my point. I don't know if there exists any)

In order to communicate with it you can use any program that communicates with Serial ports Such as Hyper terminal for Windows or Minicom for Linux. If you are using a Windows version later than XP (such as windows 7) you can copy the hyperterminal program from windows XP or download it online.
