Hi. The sourceforge SoC Builder project now officially exists. The initial wimpy web page is at http://socbuilder.sourceforge.net For anyone who wants in on this project, just send me an e-mail to bill at viasic.com. The project is in initial planning stages, so this is a good time to get involved. Bill Cox

I want to join, but I don't know how to on sourceforge. I'll try to figure it out, but if you can add me that would be great. My userid is brian_korsedal. -Brian -----Original Message----- From: cores-bounces at opencores.org on behalf of Bill Cox Sent: Thu 2/5/2004 7:10 AM To: Discussion list about free open source IP cores; geda-user at seul.org Cc: Subject: [oc] SoC Builder project started Hi. Thanks for signing up!

I've added you as a developer to the project. There are two or three
more guys who've already said they'd like to help, but they haven't
created their SourceForge accounts yet. I'll add everyone to the
mailing list, and we can get the discussion started.

Again, thanks for offering to help out! I hope this will be a fun project.

Bill

I'm really want to go the way of Perl. Perilog already works good and it will be a good starting point to get something up and working quickly. Perhaps Perilog could be adapted to do both VHDL and Verilog. Call it Perl-DL or PerlHDL. At the top of each file, define if it is using the VHDL or Verilog syntax. Then they can write the rest in the psuedo-HDL language they are most used too. That way, we could support most Verilog cores easily and add support for VHDL later. Maybe add support for netlist manipulation of whatever we would need. Have the GUI output an edif? Anyway, that's my 2 cents. -Brian -----Original Message----- From: cores-bounces at opencores.org on behalf of Bill Cox Sent: Thu 2/5/2004 9:56 AM To: Discussion list about free open source IP cores Cc: Subject: Re: [oc] SoC Builder project started Thanks for signing up!
