A 2-D IDCT ARCHITECTURE USING SKEW REGISTERS FOR VIDEO CODEC APPLICATION

Abstract — In this brief, a reconfigurable IDCT architecture is designed for multistandard inverse transform. In video compression DCT and IDCT are the most widely used transform in the image and video compression due to the good energy compaction property. To meet the requirement of real time process hardware implementations of 2-D DCT/IDCT are adopted. Reconfigurable multiple constant multiplication (RMCM) algorithm are provide to generate constant multipliers in the matrix calculation blocks. Additionally adder-sharing strategy is adopted in the unified pre processing/ post processing block to save circuit areas.
