I am new to Ethernet and I have to design a dedicated network processor.
But I can not find an answer on how the Ethernet MAC detects the MII mode or GMII mode of a triple-speed PHY.

How the MAC automatically adapts to the interface type (MII vs. GMII)?
Can you tell me where I can find the answer? Indeed, everything I've read until now did not allow me to understand the mechanism.
