Good day all,

I am new to VHDL and enjoying the learning curve. At the present time I am using Altium Designer to target some FPGA devices and so far I have not had to write any VHDL code. Their drag and drop interface makes it quite easy. The issue I have is to design a video capture interface and record video for 20 minutes, looping around after this. I only need the last 20 minutes of video in memory. I have the video capture done and grabbing frames to memory bit I have not been able to get these to output as a video stream.

What I need is some VHDL code (I have found C code to do video compression but this is going to be too slow, I think) to take the video image captured and output a video stream to memory. The capture part can grab at more than 20fps. I have a 32 bit processor with Wishbone connected peripherals as part of the design.

I hope this makes sense?

I have looked around for VHDL IP but the cost is way too high for this little project. I am not looking for free but I do need a low cost solution.

I hope someone might know where to look for this or offer advice.!

Cheers
Dave...
