only a small suggestion: why you do not switch to Lattice ?

i think with ispLever starter you can build and fit projects for fpga bigger
than 1M gates ..

the only devices, i think you, cannot develop (but i'm not sure) are ECP2M
low-cost fpga with serdes useful to make SATA or PCIe connection.

msb and Mico32 are totally free ... it could be useful to test the board
before using the leon core
