Hi,
I'm using the minimips processor core to design a multiprocessor architecture on FPGA. I can simulate the time needed for the execution of my application on the architecture on Modelsim. But I want to measure the real execution time when running the application on FPGA. So what can I do?? Appliactions running on minimips are written on MIPS assembly code. Can anyone help me please? M. |

You should have a simulation environment with model for your memory. If you are using SDRAM Micron have very good models. In modelsim you can load content into the memory model. Compile your program and convert into correct format and use modelsim command mem load.
When running in simulator you will have correct timing for your design |

But I'm not using an SDRAM memory, I connect the minimips to an Altera memory containing the binary code of my application and Then I can run in Modelsim.

Preset the content of the ALTERA memory with your application code. Run synthesis and place&route to get the timing of your design with the ALTERA device you plan to use. Running your design in simulator will be cycle accurate and if you use actual timing for your system clock you will have a correct simulation case
