We will discuss about cleaning projects. Anyway I think that improving project
browser is better solution. I agree with Rick about 'most active' page, I hope we will be able to implement it in a month. About the numbers. If you check statistics you will notice that we already deleted inactive accounts. But projects are a little more problematic because people already put some effort into them. regards, Miha On Tuesday 30 March 2004 04:34 pm, Richard Klingler wrote:

Perhaps we need to add another category to the project
selection list: "Abandoned & Incomplete" projects. You
would try to email the authors first, then a general
announcement to the list, and if no replies or direct
take overs, move it to the new category !

Good suggestion since that means that someone might someday find interest and
de-zombie such a project. Throwing them out would be a shame since there are
abandoned projects that actually have some good ideas in them (at least I hope
so).

Hi,
We don't even need to put them into a new category because we already have all information about incomplete projects (last updated, project status and stage, number of project files). In my opinion it is just a question how to change project browser. By default only ready to be used projects are displayed and on 'most popular' page it is the same. There are also other filters like programming language, status, category and people who know what they want to find will find it quickly. There is also search engine that can be restricted to projects, project downloads and cvs logs. Most active page would be a good addition and I got this suggestion form other people too. If you have some other ideas about improving project browser let me know. Maybe we should add field for searching through project titles and descriptions. regards, Miha On Wednesday 31 March 2004 10:37 am, Joachim Strombergson wrote:

Hi,
I am relatively new to opencores, and maybe this question has been arise
already, but what about a ?sourceforge? interface for classifying
projects, release and news?

Some projects are simply finished. The pages, cvs files, etc won't or aren't updated for a long time. Checking modification dates accidentally sets these pages as 'not finished'. Richard |

Hi Richard,
I had one dickens of a time trying to get WinCVS to work. I gave up in the end because noone could help me. I just uploaded my code as zip files. I could not even remove the CVS files so I have left them there. If someone can walk me through the process, that would be a great help. I've followed the notes on the web site, but either there is not enough detail or WinCVS does not work the way the notes suggest. I got my System68 and System09 cores working but the System11 and System05 are still sitting there I'm afraid. I plead guilty to not finishing projects, but at least I'm 50% there. I keep updates on my web site because it is easier than trying to use CVS. John. Richard Herveille wrote: One key note though. Some projects are simply finished. John, you are NOT alone in your WinCVS problems. I have the same
problem. And used the same solution, i.e. uploaded ZIP's.

Miha,
I'm sorry, but the information does not help. It doesn't work and keeps
telling me I can't use a blank password. (I didn't)

Try cygwin (http://www.cygwin.com) , and use the command line cvs,
or even better use a unix box ;-)
Then just follow: (which is correct, replace username & cvsroot with
your stuff)
