Hi list, I have un UART IP with two input clock asynchrnouns between them. One clock for register programming by APB bus and the others one for functionalities. I want to synchronize the two clock domaine. Is anybody knows how to do it. ? Or is there any documentation on the web somewhere. My first question would be : why doyou need to synchronize them? Aren't the two clock domains mutually exclusive? Assuming your answer to be NO, as would be in general, I'd refer you to the following link: http://www.eetimes.com/story/OEG20030606S0036 You need to synchronize every signal that is generated in one clock domain and is being used in the other, which is totally asynchronous to the former. Also, I'd advice you to search for "metastability" on the web- using any search engine-- say, google. you'd get lots of material. Hope this helps! -R.
