Hey ! A couple of ideas: USIM Interface AES Encyption/Decryption Core IrDA Controller (more or less already implemented in IrDA project but never tested in real HW, maybe somebody wants to have a look and do a test bench) Firewire Controller (started, but project kind of stuck ruight now AFAIK) Also some other (more complex) ideas: USB Host/OTG, Gigabit Ethernet MAC, PCI-X, ... regards, Damjan --- Original Message ----- From: "Redant Steven" redant at imec.be> To: "Discussion list about free open source IP cores" cores at opencores.org> Sent: Monday, December 15, 2003 12:09 PM Subject: [oc] OC's most wanted
Hi,

I have the possibility of defining some projects for masters students in

electronic engineering.

What would you guys consider to be the 'most wanted' items for Open Cores?

Please also indicate how much work you estimate the job would take to

implement it in a core publishable on the OC site.

I'm sure this isn't super-high priority, but if the mini-risc core (a
PIC core) could be fleshed out some, I've got uses for it.

GPIB / IEEE-488 Interface would be useful to me.

Cheers, Colin

A chipset for a 'motherboard' or similar, AGP, PCI, memory interface/controller would be nice ... / Lars Segerlund. On Mon, 15 Dec 2003 12:09:23 +0100 "Redant Steven" redant at imec.be> wrote:

If you do end up doing a design for something like the AES encyption algorithm, then perhaps it will be interesting to compare the manual VHDL design to the VHDL that is generated by the SPARK C-to-VHDL tool that was poster here a few days ago: http://www.cecs.uci.edu/~spark That way, one team could do a manual design and the other could try to use design automation tools and see how close they can get to each other.
