Dear Andrea,
Thank you very much on your positive reply. I think that it may be very
useful to send message with your comment on my project proposal to
opencores
list. I hope that this may potentially mobilize developers there since many
of those cores may be put on our free board. eventually, this will speed
development of the project. Since I am one of founders of Linux Centre here
in Belgrade I would like to consult President of the Board of the
Linux Centre here, Mr. Vedran Vucic who communicated with you already
regarding translation of Agnula site. I am sure that he would like to take
part in that project and that he may help us in looking for supporters.
First, we need wide public support in suggestions for
functionality for mafa-pc-board. Yes, this will be an planning phase...
When this process be finished (couple of months), and when we have
accurate target... we will decide what chips and
what technology will use to build "mafa"....
For all:
I think that we need an free (as freedom), and processor independent board,
then please, post suggestions and questions to cores mailing list
http://www.opencores.org/forums.cgi/cores/post
Term "processor independent" means that we will use some "soft" processor,
as concerns VHDL/Verilog (Hardware Description Languages)
software processor core in an large FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array)
mafa-pc-boardhttp://www.opencores.org.
VHDL/Verilog free software cores claimed to be done:

One very best rated and most popular is OR1000 (Open Risc 1000)

JTAG interface, Hardware debugging (with JTAG we can find bad soldered pins,
shorted lines, dead chips... and we will have many other debugging
functionality)

It looks quite interesting, but how many people and how much money
will be necessary to have a working prototype in place in, say, 1 year
from now?
bye,
