Maybe you could explain the speed problem. Are you trying to run your scrambler serial or byte wide? You can take any scrambler and make it run several bits at a time(or more, I've seen 300+ bit wide scramblers in 40Gbps fiber chips).
Is this what you want to know? I can explain how to do it.

Hi,
I was wondering if somebody can let me know how the De-Scrambler can synchronize to the scrambler. This question might be a bit stupid. But I missed somehow this point. The scrambler that I see usually behave like a polynomial division. The input data stream gets divided by the divisor polynome. The receiver side must then multiply the received stream by the same value. But then again, I don't know where the stream started .... This De-Scrambler looks very magic to me. Does anybody have an easy explanation for dumies ?? Best regards Georg P. Israel |

This is a very good question - not stupid at all. I do not know the answer for this Core, but generally a serial stream will have some sort of code that is not ever supposed to appear in the scrambled stream, and that is used to signal the start. MPEG is a bit-stream, and uses a start code that may not always appear on a byte boundary.
I cannot tell which scrambler is being referred to in this thread, but there is mention of SATA. If that is the scrambler that you want to understand, then I suggest obtaining the specifications for SATA so you can study them. Synchronization will surely be described in the official specification. |
