I need DDS (Direct Digital Synthesizer) in VHDL,
Can anyone help me?

Kind regards

Sure. What's your budget for this project?

I'm new at the wonderfull world of things related to analog, so please
excuse the (probally) stupid/niave questions. Is there an advantage to
using a DDS core as opposed to a stand-alone chip, if all I need is a DDS?
I have access to some FPGA boards, and this is just going in a single
piece of test equpment. The only advantage other then having a higher
frequency then something using a microcontroller that I can think of is
that I wouldn't have to do any board design (This project, if it happens,
has a really limited budget). Also, are there any DDS cores? I didn't see
anything, but two possabilities are that I either wouldn't know one if I
saw it, or that it's just a part of another core.
Anyone have any suggestions, or would I probally be better off with a DDS
chip from someplace like Analog that gives out free samples?

Thanks,
Mike

DDS's are very simple. Take an accumulator and tie it's output to a sine generator. You add a constant to the accumulator every clock cycle. You change the frequency of a DDS by changing the value of this constant. -Brian -----Original Message----- From: cores-bounces at opencores.org on behalf of Michael M Delaney Sent: Tue 6/15/2004 10:00 AM To: Discussion list about free open source IP cores Cc: Subject: Re: [oc] DDS I'm new at the wonderfull world of things related to analog, so please excuse the (probally) stupid/niave questions. The project is an wideband Soft-radio SOC solution
(based on Spartan3 400k) with many function
blocks (softcore µC, UART ect.)

It's an old thread but I thought I'd add a comment in the case it may be of some use. I've recently added a DDS/NCO core to the Opencores CVS archive. Not sure if it's still of interest, but the http://www.opencores.org/projects/web/waveform_gen">project details can be found here.
