Support for the legacy hardware debug unit (dbg_interface) has been added to the Advanced JTAG Bridge program (adv_jtag_bridge) as a compile-time option. If __LEGACY__ is #defined at compile-time, the program will be built with legacy hardware support instead of the default support for the advanced debug interface. Basically, this means that jp1/jp2 are now entirely obsolete. Systems with the legacy debug hardware can new be debugged using GDB 6.8 via the RSP protocol. The custom 'jtag' protocol is no longer necessary between GDB and the jtag bridge program. The advanced JTAG bridge program is part of the Advanced Debug System (adv_debug_sys). Legacy support is available in version 1.1.0. Note that since I designed the advanced debug unit hardware to supersede the dbg_interface, support for dbg_interface is immediately, permanently deprecated. |
