Any good books on IIR filters and how to impliment them? -----Original Message----- From: cores-bounces at opencores.org on behalf of Günter Dannoritzer Sent: Fri 9/3/2004 10:30 PM To: Discussion list about free open source IP cores Cc: Subject: Re: [oc] OFDM Hello, Tonny Matos Siqueira wrote:
Hello,

Has somebody working with OFDM modulation in FPGA?

I'm working and I want to talk about.

I was wondering about where in the Internet is the best place to discuss OFDM implementation issues, especially OFDM/FPGA related issues. I think it is great that this discussion about OFDM started here, and probably everybody who is interested in the development of free logic cores is probably subscribed to this list. However I feel there is not much commotion about the subject and I was wondering where are all the people, involved with the implementation of OFDM? What I mean is that every modern communications system, like xDSL, cable modem, WLAN, you name it, uses OFDM. Is there no need to exchange informations about it or is that only done on business levels, meaning for example conferences. I follow comp.arch.dsp and when you see what thread gets the longest discussion it is often something audio related or some theoretical aspects of a FFT or some other algorithm. When it comes to some practical issues the thread dies off pretty quick. I feel like you can bring up an OFDM related implementation subject in comp.arch.fpga and it gets more attention than in comp.arch.dsp. I would appreciate to hear some other comments and thoughts. Hi, A good book is: Digital Signal Processing by Alan V. Oppenheim and Ronald W. Schafer, although it might be difficult to learn from it. Also you need to buy it. I also used the online http://www.dspguide.com/ book. It is good for basic understanding but will not give you in depth knowledge. There is also a short description in http://www.bores.com/courses/intro/iir/index.htm. You can find some interesting notes regarding implementation and quantisation. By the way you can use Matlab or Scilab to design filters and test implementation problems. I hope these help, Moti ----- Original Message ----- From: Brian KorsedalBKorsedal at b...> To: Date: Sat Sep 4 08:35:32 CEST 2004 Subject: [oc] IIR filters

yes, its true OFDM is used in many communication system, one popular is in WLAN OFDM transmitter and receiver, you can go through short OFDM tutorial on how simulation is performed in ADS which provides good additional insights
