Nope. Unless something strange has happened, the Nios (or Nios II) soft procesor cores are released as source. (I'm sure any Altera rep would correct me now if that was untrue. ;-) There are however a very nice community site for the Nios processors. Check out: http://www.niosforum.com/ As an avid Nios user, I can agree that having the Nios as open source would be great. But remember Altera created Nios in order to increase sales of their FPGAs. At least that's my take on their business case for Nios. -- Med vänlig hälsning, Yours Joachim Strömbergson - Alltid i harmonisk svängning. Hi, the source for NIOS is well hidden. When I used NIOS a couple of years ago Altera were very reluctant to publish their port of gcc. Maybe that situation is different today. Thats the price you pay to use that kind of IP cores The source for or1200 on the other hand ... regards /Michael ----- Original Message ----- From: Ben A. The source for the gcc toolchain for Nios(1) was done by Red Hat/Cygnus and was clearly available. I'm pretty certain that the source for the Nios II toolchain is also available. Since GCC is GPL they must provide the source upon request. Also AFAIK you *can* get the source for Nios too, but you will have to pay for it. -- Med vänlig hälsning, Yours Joachim Strömbergson - Alltid i harmonisk svängning.
