can any one help out in the following problem.

I have to give my inputs dynamically from keyboard whan running as we
give in cprogram and i have to display my outputs on the monitor.
exactly similar to stdin and stdout in C.

i shall be thankful to you

If you want to do it entirely in VHDL, it will be difficult... You will unfortunately need a core to drive the monitor with video signals, a core to grab input from the keyboard, and a look up table to map keys to pixel patterns, and a small processor/FSM to process everything.. If this is your first time doing VHDL, it might be a little difficult.. Another alternative is to implement a suitable microcontroller in an FPGA, and if it's fast enough, you can do all that, and generate the video signals in software... That takes the complexity out from the hardware, into the software.. Cheers.. On Friday 05 November 2004 17:28, jupally_kiran at rediffmail.com wrote:

If you're talking about actually reading stdin and writing to stdout during simulation, you can do this ad hoc directly in VHDL (I do this all the time for testbenches) -- or, take a look at http://bear.ces.cwru.edu/vhdl/> where they've taken things to a further, but perhaps more useful, extreme. I have never tried the later, but it looks interesting.

You mean, like: adder : block is signal a, b, s : unsigned(9 downto 0); begin s wjl at icecavern.net> OpenPGP FP: 4135 2A3B 4726 ACC5 9094 0097 F0A9 8A4C 4CD6 E3D2 -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
