I assume you're talking about back-door processor debugging. I don't know what the capabilities of the CoolRISC debugger are, but most systems let you upload programs to system memory, start and stop the CPU, and read and write the CPU registers. If you need info specific to the CoolRISC system, google it or ask the chip vendor for documentation, I doubt anyone here knows specifics for that system.

I am curious though...why do you have to use something if you don't know what it does? You're asking about a solution...what's the problem you need to solve?

(Also curious...Swiss university? CoolRISC isn't all that common, so far as I know...)

I think u r too curious...whenever any work is assigned to an engineer...it is not necessary that he/she has knowledge of that task...its a challenge for an engineer to get knowledge and implement that task. So I am also that kind of engg. Task assigned to me is to develop DoC(Debug On Chip) and GASP(General Access Serial Protocol), I have tried to find spec or any kind of information related to these topics but I am unable to find. Plz help if somebody know what is functionality and purpose of GASP and DoC?

Thanx again!!!

The key is that it doesn't matter what we think it is. Go to the person who gave you the assignment and find out what they think it is.

go to altera site and read about SignalTap. SignalTap is On-Chip Debugging tool in-built inside altera Quartus-II tool. you will find easily get signaltap working specification on net.

best of luck....
