I want to introduce the AI System open source project (VHDL, digital). I started this project and I am going to build a massive AI. My name is Ovidiu Anghelidi and I ran the world's largest brain simulation on thousands of machines, see the following Discovery Channel article:

AI systems are very useful systems, they can be used for medical purposes (neuromorphic solutions for simulations of brain regions in patients) and data processing. General CPU's are not that efficient when it comes to computations. The project will end up defining novel architectures.

Hi driram,

We would like to be consistent across boards so we will use VHDL only.

We do need help with designing a novel network communication router, and that technical writing can be done in any language, even if in the end will be implemented in VHDL.

We will be simulating biological brain mechanisms, cellular and subcellular, all kinds of neurons and synapses. Please download the latest code and have a look at the aisystem/docs/architecture.txt. Then we will combine the bio stuff with AI algorithms to obtain desired effects (learning, recognition).

The project consists of a couple of modules: commander (node addition/removal, time step advance), communicator (router for communication), simulator (computations).
See also aisystem/docs/architecture.txt. Each of the modules require work. Tasks can take anywhere from 15-30 minutes to weeks. Any help is appreciated.

I will post a list of tasks and feel free to send me an email on which one you would like to help.

I will soon contact some research groups and we will get their help too. The number of objects is in the thousands and some have a lot of equations (see aisystem/apps/simulator/objects/1000..7000).

That is great. We will be implementing all kind of models from many parts of the brain. We will start with cortex models and then gradually extend that laterally to other regions and also increase in complexity to molecular mechanisms.
