I am doing a project where i need to get data from remote zigbee and process the data using zigbee at another end using fpga. I need to do serial communication with zigbee and fpga. I am confused how to start about it. Please if any one can help me in this, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you |

Well first of all if anyone were to offer to help, they would need to know which ZigBee driver/receiver chip you are using at both ends so they can help you with the interface. Pretty easy project once you know the interface.

Hi thx very much for your reply and sorry not to provide that info. actually i am using XBEE s1 ic 4214A-XBEE.
It would be greatful to recieve some help. i figured out little bit about in altium designer using open bus but not able to understand completely. Little help would be appreciated a lot thanks |

XBee have UART for communication and AT/API mode of work (plus 3V3 levels at UART pins ;). So , you can use simple SOPC (Altera-Avalon:NIOS+UART or Xilinx-PLB/AXI:MicroBlaze+UART) for work. Document: http://www.parallax.com/portals/0/downloads/docs/prod/book/122-32450-XBeeTutorial-v1.0.1.pdf has required info for API-mode understanding. |

I need to do this project using NB3000 board and i will be using altium designer 10. so would it be possible in that as these above mentioned are my hard constraints. I mainly need to interface zigbee with nb3000 and then receive data from another zigbee and process thata data in nb3000.

Like I can see NB3000 has RS-232 interface - so you will have physical layer to your zigbee chip. Also you must define type of FPGA at your board - like I understood from documents it can be Xilinx, Altera or Lattice. After you will define FPGA - it will be quite simple task for build SoPC with CPU and UART for work. |

"USER HEADER" also acceptable for UART module. Global issues regarding UART implementation I think you can find at "miniuart2" OPERCORES project (or other UART-kind simple project). Or you can ask here ;) |
