I tried it once... I couldn't get it to synthesize, but I didn't try very hard. Instead I built my own HC11 core. It's called the "Gator uProcessor" check it out.

Does anyone here have any experience using Green Mountain's free Motorola 'HC11 core? I have used it before in a test R&D project. Hooked up inside a Virtex4 to the Gigabit Ethenet and some other logic for packet generation. Was more for fun than anything else, to mess around with instead of using a microblaze. At the time there were bugs in the Core, but Green Mountains tech support sent a patch to the latest version. I started adding some a HC11'like timer module, interrupt and also some custom memory mapped DMA blocks for tx/rx packets and for interfacing to my 1Gigabit packet generator logic. Was pretty easy really, is a nice CPU design to play with. The GCC tool chain for it was not bad too, some messing with setting up the machine definitions etc but nothing to bad. If your interested in bits I can dig out the project and check the code etc. It's in my archive some place. |
