Hello all,
I hope I haven't put this in the wrong place, but I couldn't find a more suitable "General" section in the forum, I hope it's not out of line. As there is about a month lead-time for the VC707 from Xilinx, I've been looking at getting a temporary development platform in the meantime. A bit of internet searching yields two potentials, both using Spartan6-LX150's. One is the Opal Kelly XEM-6310 (which has a EZ-USB3 to host interface - nice) and the other is the ZTEX v1.15 LX150 (which uses an EZ-USB2 interface to host). What matters most to me is the quality and support - after going through the Altium fiasco, I don't want to give my money to have my time and effort wasted. Has anyone experience with these companies or modules? Any recommendations or warnings for/against would be appreciated. Mario. |

Hi.
I had experience with the OpalKelly (XEM5010). I had to contact them several times. Their response was almost instant and very good. I'm not familiar with the other company, but for sure I would recommend you OpalKelly. I used their UI and also Python. System works fine, and it is well described. Regards, Igor |

Igor,
Your recommendation sealed the deal, as well as the fact that the OpalKelly board had USB3 support (~300Mbyte/sec) and it also broke out more GPIO's and GCLOCK's than the ZTEX, I decided to go for the XEM route. Many thanks, Mario. |
