I am trying to simulate openmsp430 at gate-level in Modelsim... i got an error during simulation saying that" unresolved reference to execution_unit_0 in dut.execution_unit_0" this error is solved if i remove register wires (r0 to r15) in register.v file but then the result is incorrect... kindly help me
thanks

Hi,

for this problem you can have a look at several threads in the openMSP430 discussion group:
1/ https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/discuss_openmsp430/1tTOG2PQpXk
2/ https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/discuss_openmsp430/T5dqTCXfLms
3/ ...

The short answer to your problem is that the "register.v" file in the testbench creates some probes to monitor and check the register content of the openMSP430 during simulation.
However, synthesis tools typically rename registers and can also ungroup hierarchy levels... which is the reason the compile step of your simulation fails.

The best way for you to solve your problem is to edit your gate level netlist and find-out what the Rx registers have been renamed to.

Cheers,
Olivier
