Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any good book recommendations for designing soft cores? I am interested on getting started with this area by cloning a Z80.

I found a few books on the subject, but they were all Verilog. I only know VHDL, as it seems to be the most popular where I live (UK). So, does anyone have any good resources that are using VHDL rather than Verilog?

Feel free to enlighten me if I should be looking at Verily for a particular reason, but I do not with to start a war :)

Thanks

Have a look at "Digital Design, An Embedded Systems Approach Using VHDL" by Peter Ashenden. It is available in two versions, one in VHDL and one in Verilog. It is a very nice introduction into the subject, not only into cpu core design but also into a complete embedded system on a chip.
