How to use a package?

Hi All, I am using Altera Quartus and trying to use the aes_crypto_core. It comes with a package "aes_package.vhd" Do I have to compile this before I can compile the top level? I put it in \quatrus50\libraries\vhdl\work, but then what? When I create a project and hit the compile button, I get this: Error: Top-level design entity "aes_package" is undefined Can you help? How did you declare this library? Can you post the header of the top level? 2005/10/28, Eric Oberg emoberg at att.net>:

In the project navigator window on the left side, under the tab "Files" expand the "Device Design Files" folder. Then move the package "aes_package.vhd" to the top (along with any other package files that you might have). Then try compiling. But leave the top level enity whatever it is supposed to be. This causes the compiler to look through the package file first before moving on to any files that depend on it. Hope this helped. ----- Original Message ----- From: Eric Obergemoberg at a...> To: Date: Fri Oct 28 10:59:19 CEST 2005 Subject: [oc] How to use a package?

Hi Fernando, Problem was that Packages have to be listed FIRST in the Quartus file list, that way it is compled first, and the parts are then available for later functions.
