Problem Compiling JOP with Quartus 5.1
by Unknown on Dec 12, 2005
Not available!
While compiling JOP processor (www.jopdesign.com) with Quatus 5.1
Web Edition, I am getting a ridiculously low LE count of around 60.
There is no error in compilation, but tons of warning about stuck data,
clock etc., but I can't see anything wrong with the code. In past, I
have compiled JOP with Quartus 4.2 without any problem. Anybody has
any idea what could be wrong?
Thanks.

Which project are you compiling? Did you check out the project in the last days? I've changed JOP to use the new SimpCon interface to IO devices and the main memory. I've probably not updated each project up to now. However, cycmin and cyc12min should work out-of-the-box. You can also try to use the Makefile. I was having problem with both cycmin and cyc12min. Anyway, the problem is resolved now. I delete my jop directory and retrieved everything again. That has solved the problem. In the java file com.jopdesign.build.JOPizer.java, what is the use of import com.sun.corba.se.ActivationIDL.Repository; I don't have that class, and does not look like is needed for compilation. ----- Original Message ----- From: Martin Schoeberlmartin at j...> To: Date: Tue Dec 13 11:06:11 CET 2005 Subject: [oc] Problem Compiling JOP with Quartus 5.1

Fine to hear that it works now for you. About the import in JOPizer: This was a mistake that happend perhaps during typing in Eclipse, sorry. I've updated the CVS with a JOPizer version where this import statement is removed. Everything builds fine now but while downloading thru serial line, I am getting data errors. I enabled the traces in down.exe to print the bytes send and received, and this is a portion of what I am seeing: E:\Designs\jop\java\target>..\..\down -e dist\bin\test_Hello.jop COM1 2505 words of Java bytecode (9 KB) 0-0 0-0 17-16 132-128 0-0 0-0 9-12 202-239 42-14 183-146 0-0 1-0 42-14 18-18 2-2 180-156 0-0 3-2 181-156 0-0 3-2 177-144 0-0 0-0 42- 14 183-146 0-0 1-0 42-14 43-14 180-144 0-0 3-2 181-144 0-0 3-3 177- 144 0-0 0-0 0-0 42-15 183-146 0-0 1-0 At first I thought there is a Baudrate mismatch, so modified down.exe and the VHDL to operate at 9600. That did not help and produced the same byte patterns as above. Tonight, I'll use SignalTap and try to find out what is going on. Does anyone have any other idea I should try out first? ----- Original Message ----- From: Martin Schoeberlmartin at j...> To: Date: Fri Dec 16 12:01:27 CET 2005 Subject: [oc] Problem Compiling JOP with Quartus 5.1

There are small microcode test programms to test the serial line and the memory interface.
