OpenCores project policy (additional comment)

Hi Fabrizio, I'll be more specific on the "exclusive" part. Your sources need to be in the OpenCores CVS, but you can have an exported package of your CVS sources on another web site. If your sources are published on another web site, then your sources need to have an exclusive reference to OpenCores web site. If you don't publish your sources on another web site, then your sources can refer to a third party web site. This policy is in order to have some genuine valuable content on OpenCores web site/cvs. The policy might change. regards Damjan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Damjan Lampret" damjanl at opencores.org> To: "Discussion list about free open source IP cores" cores at opencores.org> Sent: Friday, September 08, 2006 11:00 PM Subject: [oc] OpenCores project policy
Hi Fabrizio, I have replied to you but it seems you didn't get my email. You have said that you have published your design on other web sites. If so, why you need to make another copy on OpenCores? Your design has to be exclusively published on OpenCores, or your can't publish it. This is done in order to avoid misuse of OpenCores simply to advertise their work (by making copies on bunch of web sites, or, even worse just by making links on OpenCores to 3rd party web sites etc etc). If you are after advertising, send an email to administration at opencores.org and ask for commercial advertising. If you are after to have web space for your design, then you have to decide about the exclusivity of your design. Projects where the author simply puts a link on the project's web page and the link points to a third party web site and there is no sources on OpenCores web site (cvs), will be removed. OpenCores is not a search directory, such as Yahoo directory, and other web directories. regards Damjan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Fabrizio Fazzino" fabrizio at fazzino.it> To: "Discussion list about free open source IP cores" cores at opencores.org> Sent: Friday, September 08, 2006 3:45 PM Subject: [oc] Simply RISC S1 Core
Hi, I've just posted the full announcement about the release of the S1 Core on the proper mailing-list announce at opencores.org. Basically it's a derived version of Sun's OpenSPARC T1 to add a Wishbone interface, so that it can be easily connected to other OC cores; obviously everything is GPL'ed. The design has already been posted on http://www.srisc.com and http://s1.sunsource.net , I wanted to publish it also in the OpenCores.org repository but after the canonical one week I'm still waiting for the project administrator password (could someone help please?...). We have chosen the 0.1 version number because there are still some problems that require further investigation (like some assertion errors with Icarus that do not occur with VCS) and we hope that with the help of the community we can obtain better results: if you can, please give it a look.
