Hi Everyone,
I was able to check out the new version of gcc and now I am having troubles with uClinux installation. I have cut and pasted the error I got. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Balaji V. Iyer. /tmp/or1k/uclinux/uClinux-2.0.x/include/asm/bitops.h:161: warning: dereferencing type-punned pointer will break strict-aliasing rules In file included from /tmp/or1k/uclinux/uClinux-2.0.x/include/linux/netdevice.h:62, from /tmp/or1k/uclinux/uClinux-2.0.x/include/net/ip.h:27, from /tmp/or1k/uclinux/uClinux-2.0.x/include/net/checksum.h:22, from checksum.c:34: /tmp/or1k/uclinux/uClinux-2.0.x/include/linux/skbuff.h: In function `skb_put': /tmp/or1k/uclinux/uClinux-2.0.x/include/linux/skbuff.h:411: error: label at end of compound statement /tmp/or1k/uclinux/uClinux-2.0.x/include/linux/skbuff.h: In function `skb_push': /tmp/or1k/uclinux/uClinux-2.0.x/include/linux/skbuff.h:424: error: label at end of compound statement make[2]: *** [checksum.o] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/or1k/uclinux/uClinux-2.0.x/arch/or32/lib' make[1]: *** [first_rule] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/or1k/uclinux/uClinux-2.0.x/arch/or32/lib' make: *** [linuxsubdirs] Error 2 Matjaz Breskvar said:

Opencores used gcc3.2.3 (atleast it wa the only version I found in the CVS directory) and I need 3.4.2 because there are a lot of haifa-scheduler optimizations available in the 3.4.2 that is not available for 3.2.3 thanks, |

(uc)linux 2.0.x is very old. it is not recomended to compile old kernels with very recent gcc compilers. i suggest you try with an older compiler (gcc-3.2.3). best regards, p. |

Matjaz,
If I can't use uclinux then how can I use gcc-3.4.2 to cross compile to get an output? Is there a work around? -Balaji V. Iyer. Matjaz Breskvar said:

Is there a work around? i'm not sure what you mean. uclinux is just an operating system. you don't need it to have something running on the board or simulator. for example you can try 'hello-world' (was posted on this list some time ago) application which outputs something to the UART or you can write your own. if you'd want an operating system i recommend you try linux-2.4 also avaliable in the opencores cvs. best regards, p. |
