what targets are supported?

Hi,
does the --target option has any impact on the functionality of the gnu
toolchain (binutils/gcc/gdb)?
I have problems with a toolchain built for or32-rtems to load binaries
with or32-rtems-gdb (not in executable format: File format not
recognized). I do not have this problem with the or32-uclinux-gdb.
So what targets are there, what are the differences in the functionality
of the toolchain and which are supported for the current toolchain used
in the ats-scripts?
- or32-elf
- or32-uclinux
- or32-rtems
- ... any other?
BTW: What is the recommended host compiler version for building the
toolchain? 2.95 has problems building gdb-5.0, 3.3.4 has not.
Best regards,
/Matthias
