Hi all,
in the community portal and in the application notes of the company embecosm I read that the or1ksim is able to run linux OS. But I did not find any installing guide introduces how to configure and install it on Or1ksim? where is the configuration file for or1ksim available to run linux on or1ksim? Is still the distribution 2.6 the latest version supported? In case that the linux runs on or1ksim can we write and compile and execute simple applications on the top of linux os running on or1ksim? P.S: I intalled the latest version of toolchain using this command ./bld-all.sh --force --prefix /opt/openrisc --or1ksim-dir /opt/or1ksim --uclibc-dir uClibc --linux-dir linux I supposed that the linux image had been build but never checked where! |

Hi ag09, This is a script to build and install the tool chains and their associated libraries. It does not build any operating systems. There are instructions on how to build Linux and BusyBox (the user environment running on the kernel) on www.openrisc.net. Ignore all the instructions on building the tool chain and libraries - you've already done that with bld-all.sh. Just follow the instructions for BusyBox and Linux. HTH Jeremy

Hal Jeremy, I downloaded and run the configuration file for busybox. I set up the following flags export CFLAGS="--sysroot=$SYSROOT" export CONFIG_PREFIX=/local/home/openrisc/busybox and I run the makefile by hitting make CROSS_COMPILE=or32-linux- CONFIG_PREFIX=$SYSROOT install I got the an error that the or32-linux-gcc is not found. I thought that this cross compiler had been generated by giving the aforementioned command. Any suggestion what I missed? make CROSS_COMPILE=or32-linux- CONFIG_PREFIX=$SYSROOT install /local/home/tool/busybox/busybox/scripts/gcc-version.sh: line 11: or32-linux-gcc: command not found SPLIT include/autoconf.h -> include/config/* GEN include/bbconfigopts.h HOSTCC applets/usage GEN include/usage_compressed.h HOSTCC applets/applet_tables GEN include/applet_tables.h CC applets/applets.o /bin/sh: or32-linux-gcc: command not found make[1]: *** [applets/applets.o] Error 127 make: *** [applets_dir] Error 2 |

hi ag09,
hope after installation of tool-chain you have updated ur PATH env-variable.. If not .. add flowing to ur script.. .cshrc (c-shell): setenv PATH $PATH:/opt/openrisc/bin .bashrc (bash shell): export PATH=$PATH/opt/openrisc/bin Also add .cshrc (c-shell): setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH $LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/opt/openrisc/lib .bashrc (bash shell): export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH/opt/openrisc/bin After this source new terminal, and you should be able to use "or32-xx-xxx" tools.. with regards, pekon |

The paths to the bin and lib are already included. I have access on all this tools or32-elf-addr2line or32-elf-gccbug or32-elf-profile or32-elf-ar or32-elf-gcov or32-elf-ranlib or32-elf-as or32-elf-gdb or32-elf-readelf or32-elf-c++ or32-elf-gdbtui or32-elf-run or32-elf-c++filt or32-elf-ld or32-elf-sim or32-elf-cpp or32-elf-mprofile or32-elf-size or32-elf-g++ or32-elf-nm or32-elf-strings or32-elf-gcc or32-elf-objcopy or32-elf-strip As you can see the list does not include or32-linux-gcc. Did I miss some configurations to generate it? |

Hi ag09 Looks like you don't have the or32-linux tool chain. If you built using bld-all.sh, then they should be in the same bin directory as the or32-elf tools. If you have one on the path, you should have both! What is the output from "which or32-elf-gcc"? Jeremy |

I get the following path where the toolchain actually installed /local/home/openrisc/toolchain/bin in this directory the afromentioned tools are stored. Any suggestion how to check if the or32-linux tools are build? |

Any suggestion how to check if the or32-linux tools are build? Hi ag09, Looks like you have found your problem. With bld.sh you gave a prefix of /opt/openrisc, so you would expect to find or32-elf-gcc in /opt/openrisc/bin. However you don't, so you are probably picking up some old installation in your path. Could you post the output of "echo $PATH" and "ls /opt/openrisc/bin". Almost certainly the cure is to use as suggested above: PATH=/opt/openrisc/bin:$PATHor setenv PATH /opt/openrisc/bin:$PATH (use the first with sh, bash or other sh derivatives, the second with csh, tcsh or other csh derivatives). Do this after running bld-all.sh, but before building BusyBox and Linux. HTH Jeremy |

I am nearly sure that the linux tools had been not build but what did I miss to build it I run the following command from the last version of toolchain:
Any Suggestion? Hi ag09 Hold on - this is a change from your earlier message (first one in this thread). There you said that you ran with --prefix /opt/opencores. Which one is correct? All I can suggest is that you build again, from the beginning, capturing all the output from bld-all.sh in a file and post it here (as an attachment). I'll then look to see what is going wrong. Hi Jeremy, I tried again to build the toolchain by running this command: ../gnu-src/bld-all.sh --force --prefix /local/home/openrisc/toolchain --or1ksim-dir /local/home/openrisc/or1ksim --uclibc-dir uClibc --linux-dir linux Both linux and uclibc are downloaded as described in the toolchain site of openrisc. It seems that an error accrues while installing the linux toolchain.
