Hi,
I am trying to build GDB-7.2 without enabling simulator, i did not find any option/feature to disable 'sim'. Is it possible to disable simulator while making gdb? regards Tyagi |

Thanks, i observed the mechanism not to consider simulator during GDB build.
The simulator functionality can be opted in configure.tgt file. If we do not want to link simulator with Debugger executable then there is no need to include entry for simulator in configure.tgt file. |

Hi tyagi007, Looks like you have solved your own problem. But why would you want to disable the simulator? Best wishes, Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
I am using Openrisc GDB7.2 as a reference to port GDB7.3 to a new Reconfigurable Target. In first phase of porting, I do not want to use the simulator with debugger, so i was looking to disable it. regards, Tyagi |

Hi Tyagi, Good luck with porting GDB. Beware that GDB 7.2 for OpenRISC is still in its early stages, so has a lot of errors (several hundred regression failures). I am in the process of porting GDB 7.3, but it will be a while before that work is complete. I wrote an application note on porting GDB, based on GDB 6.8 for OpenRISC (http://www.embecosm.com/download/ean3.html), which you may found useful. However there have been significant API changes in moving from GDB 6.x to GDB 7.x, notably in frame handling, which now works with THIS frame rather than the NEXT frame. Best wishes, Jeremy |
