Hi,
When i am running my new gdb( after porting to a new target) i am getting the following error: > run Starting program: /home/tyagi/debugger/gdb_dev/gdb-7.3_5_sep/gdb-7.3/gdb-7.3/target_executable .Don't know how to run. Try "help target" Also in some mailing list i found the solution to this problem as "connect to the target where process is running", Could anyone tell me how to connect to the target if i do not have any exertenal (like JTAG) target? regards, Tyagi |

Have you ported GDB to run on the machine it is actually debugging. Otherwise you'll need to specify a remote target, for example target sim (to target the simulator) or target remote 192.168.0.37:51000 to target a machine using Remote Serial Protocol over TCP/IP at IP address 192.168.0.27 using port 51000. You'll need to either implement a simulator, or implement a Remote Serial Protocol server (or gdbserver) on your target. HTH Jeremy
