I am trying to download the compiled tool chains and the ftp server seems to be down. It's not possible to compile the 64 bit version of the toolchain since there is some problem in it so as of now I don't know how to get the toolchain installed on my system. Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Hi Saurabh and sumanth.hv What instructions are you following to download and build the tool chain? They seem to be out of date if they require FTP. Jeremy

hi jeremy,

Hi Sumanth, That first looks like a link to the old (obsolete) OpenRISC pages. Where did you find that link? I suggest you look at the up to date instructions on the Wiki, opencores.org/or1k/OpenRISC_GNU_tool_chain. Someone else will have to reply about the Ubuntu vmware. HTH Jeremy |

thanks you jeremy for the reply. With the new link you provided as well i'm getting page not found error. i think something is wrong with stuff getting downloaded from ftp://ocuser:oc@opencores.org/ . is there any other way to get the files?
regards, Sumanth. |

regards, Sumanth. I also find the same problem. The new link also has the same problem. I think there must be something wrong with the server. I hope it could be repaired soon. |

I've taken a look. This is the Wiki page link, cut and pasted from my browser: The FTP links for pre-compiled binaries were wrong on that page. I have fixed them. However you are very strongly recommended to build from source to get the latest software. HTH Jeremy |

thank you jeremy for the update. however, the file that the vmware is trying to download, i.e, or.tar.bz2 is not available even in ftp://openrisc.opencores.org/. Can anyone help me find this file or has it gotten renamed?
regards, Sumanth. |

Hi Sumanth The only files available are those on the Wiki page - they were all there 30 seconds ago. What other file are you looking for, and why do you believe it should be in FTP? Lots of obsolete stuff has been removed. HTH Jeremy (BTW - it is a lot quicker to have this discussion on IRC. Channel #opencores on freenode.net). |

Hi Sumanth, Just realized that it is vmware you reported trying to load a file. Looks like the image needs updating. I think Julius prepared this, so it would be best to ask him. Try IRC! In the meantime, why not just build from source. It's not very difficult. Jeremy |
