Hi,
I have made canges to BFD library as a part of porting GDB. Is there any way to verify my changes made to BFD? regards, Tyagi |

You should not need to change BFD to get GDB to work. You'll affect the rest of the tool chain - BFD is central to it all. You can test it easily. Just run the regression tests. Make sure you have added a set of tests for the changes you have added as well. HTH Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for your reply.
I mean to say with modifying BFD was to add a new architecture to libbfd by changing archures.c,cpu-.c, elf32-.c etc.. and also defining an enum constant of type bfd_architecture.
I suppose i need to modify the BFD to support to a new 32 bit architecture even though it supports elf files?
Now if i make changes to add a new architecture to libbfd, is the running regression only method?
regards,
tyagi

Hi Tyagi, Ah - being the OpenRISC forum, I assumed you were talking about OpenRISC. You still shouldn't be altering BFD for GDB. You should be porting binutils (which includes BFD) and GCC first. Then GDB reuses that. The answer is still the same - use regression testing, remembering to add tests for your new architecture. If you are an ELF architecture, then you will be able to base it on other ELF implementations, but customized for the specifics of your architecture. HTH Jeremy |
