Hi,

I would like to discuss 4 topics:
1) a stable PPA for HDL tools used in OpenCores, OpenRisc development
2) testing of new/unstable PPA packages (I need help here)
3) future packaging plans
4) packaging the OpenRisc toolchain

1)

I have an Ubuntu PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~team-electronics/+archive/ppa
It contains updated versions of common HLD tools:
gtkwave 3.3.30
iverilog 0.9.5
verilator 3.824
I would suggest the creation of an official OpenCores PPA, where tested stable packages would be published.

2)

Since the publication of the new SystemC 2.3.0 I was working on packaging it for Ubuntu, also a version of Verilator with SystemC support compiled in is provided (system variables with paths to SystemC libraries and include files are compiled into the Verilator binary). This are developed on my personal PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~iztok.jeras/+archive/ppa
The new packages here are:
libsystemc 2.3.0
libsystemperl 1.340
libverilog-perl 3.313
verilator 3.831
This packages should work now, but I need help testing them. There still require mostly small changes, a bigger one is adding 'make test' to SystemC. This was not yet done, since SystemC make files expect test after install, while debhelper performs test before install.

3)

This are the tools I plan to package next:
SystemC related TLM, UVM
Icarus verilog (0.10 development snapshot)
I am open to suggestions.

4)

I did attempt to build or1ksim and OpenRisc toolchain. There is a problem with cross dependencies (or1ksim depends on GCC and build tools depend on or1ksim).
I do not remember what exactly the other issues were, I will report them, when I restart packaging them.
Also I would prefer to install all tools into default Debian paths /usr.

Regards,
Iztok Jeras
