Hi,
I have installed or1ksim get from svn in cygwin. Then I run hello-uart code with or1ksim as below: or32-uclinux-or1ksim -f sim.cfg hello.or32
get the log:
$ or32-uclinux-sim -f ./sim_new.cfg hello.or32
Seeding random generator with value 0x43ded8f6
ERROR: Overlapping memory area(s):
addr & fffffc00 == 00000000 to 000003ff, size 00000400
and addr & ffc00000 == 00000000 to 003fffff, size 00400000

The attached is sim_new.cfg which I used. I did not found where have set those addr.

Now, I do not know what should to do. Please help me. Thanks!

Best wishes,
Jane

Hi Jane,

The message means that you have declared two areas of memory that overlap in the configuration file. The second one specified would appear to be your RAM area (the second "section memory"), which runs from 0x00000000 to 0x003fffff.

The first block is quite small from 0x00000000 to 0x000003ff. It is almost certainly the memory mapped registers of one of the devices. I think it might be the DMA controller, which is not fully commented out. You seem to have specified a DMA controller, but no baseaddr for its memory map registers, so they have defaulted to address zero (arguably this should be a mandatory field).

    section dma
     /* ndmas = 0*/

      /*
      device 0
        baseaddr = 0x9a000000
        irq = 11
      enddevice
      */
    end

I suggest you might like to fully comment out this block (i.e. include the first and last line inside the comment).

HTH

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for your help. After I comment out section dma block,section ethernet block, section vga blcok, setction kdb and setction ata block, it can work. But it print strings "Haeblclo world!!!" insteading of "Hello word!!!".

Below is printed information.

jane,
It seems some test string ("a b c") is getting mixed up to the "Hello World" string.. (just a wild guess)
Haeblclo = "H e l l o" + "a b c"

grep -i "abc" or grep -i 0x0A0B0C (or something similar in ur code/de-assembly)

with regards, pekon

Hi pekon,
Thanks!
I have fixed this probelm. The reason si that in the sim_new.cfg set channel = "file:uart0.rx,uart0.tx", and string "abc" is been read from the file uart0.rx through uart interface. After I deleted the content in file uart0.rx, the terminal can printf "Hello world!!!"

Best Regards!
Jane
