Hi My name is Jorge
i'm using a ML509 board from Xilinx, with the XUPV5-LX110T FPGA, to test a simple assembly code (two instructions) with the ORPSOC. In the project file i have: the processor (OR1200), a ROM.v file, the clkgen and the arbiter for the WISHBONE Bus. I don't really know why is the purpose of the ROM file... My question is: How I put the code in memory and which memory i can use to put this code? I think i need to use the Qmem located on OR1200_top, but i want to put the code using a .mif or .hex file. Someone can help me? cheers Jorge Aires |

There is no easy way to do this currently. The board port doesn't use ROM.v, so you can ignore that. You can load binaries compiled with the or1k-elf/or32-elf toolchain into two types of memory: a) on-chip RAM and b) DDR2. On-chip RAM can be loaded by providing initial values to block ram. To load the DDR2 or also on-chip memory, you will need to connect a debugger to the board. You can port the advanced debug system as used in the minsoc project and use the programming connection to connect the debugger or you can break-out the JTAG interface to one of the expansion headers and connect the Parallel-IV cable.
