Hi,
We would like to port linux kernel onto the OR1200. Actually, our applications needs a light weight kernel(RAM size is concern) and should run multiple threads. Please state the size of linux kernel. Once we are aware of kernel size of linux kernel or rtos kernel size, we will decide the suitable OS and proceed with porting activity.

hi, avamsi.

in case of FreeRTOS, actual kernel code size is about a 42Kbyte with -Os option. but, it require more memory for stack and heap.

for very simple application(like a hello world), 64Kbyte is a suitable. include code, data, stack and heap.

Thanks

Hi,

We got all the GNU tool chain from the SVN. We built it on ubuntu10.4. It created binaries, and we ran hello.elf in the simulator. The same binaries are copied into another ubantu10.4 machine. We tried to compile the same hello.c here. But it is giving some errors like:

/home/avamsi/compiled/openrisc/bin/../libexec/gcc/or32-elf/4.5.1-or32-1.0rc4/cc1: error while loading shared libraries: libmpfr.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

My doubt is do we need to build the tool chain on every machine we are going to work. Please do reply on this issue.

Thanks in advance,
A.vamsi

hi, avamsi.

It seems to library dependency problem. GNU Toolchain has a dependency to libncurses, libmpfr, libgmp3, libmpc, and libzip. please check this out.

Thanks
