Hi all,
I want to know is there any specifications to download from the svn or web, about the power consumption of the Or1200, based on FPGA or ASIC?
If there's not, have the power consumption been tested?
Is there any methods or softwares which could be taken to evaluate the power consumption.

As far as I can see there are no published numbers for the Or1200. It is not difficult to perform such measurements. On FPGA everything is within the environment that the vendor provides. E.g. for Xilinx (since Virtex5 is supported) you should :

1. produce a post P&R model
2. run a meaningfull (real world) simulation with that model
3. capture toggling from the simulator (in SAIF format)

Then you import back the SAIF in Xpower Analyzer and you get your numbers.

Otherwise you can just launch the Xpower Analyzer and it will apply default toggling rates to all LUTs (which is at all accurate) but also gets you "some" numbers.

For ASIC you need to same method similar method (Post P&R netlist simulation) albeit different tools.

Hi zhongyang

You could look at the work of Steve Kerrison at Bristol University. He has done a lot of work on power estimation for processors, and I know he has been working on OpenRISC.

You might also like to ask on the OpenRISC developer mailing lists openrisc@lists.opencores.org and openrisc@lists.openrisc.net (see http://opencores.org/or1k/OR1K:Community_portal#Mailing_lists for details).
