Hi,
I tried to install or1k + toolchain in two manners: 1. using the tutorial http://www.embecosm.com/download/ean2.html I successfully build the binutils (ch 3.1), however compiling the gcc crashes (ch 3.2) with " *** buffer overflow detected ***: or32-uclinux-ar terminated " I am using latest ubuntu. 2. I did not give up and tried to use the vmware image. I downloaded and started the script as instructed here http://opencores.org/openrisc,vmware However the script is unable to connect to the ftp. I nmap-ed the ip 195.67.9.12, and it seems to be down. I am out of ideas on what to do next. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you vlad |

Hi vlad,
I know this isn't an answer to your specific error, but I would recommend installing the simulator and toolchain using the "Installation from source" instructions at this link: http://opencores.org/or1k/OpenRISC_GNU_tool_chain I've had success installing the toolchain and simulator in Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit using those instructions. To build uClibc and the linux kernel you may need to also add /opt/or1ksim/include to your environment path (for or1ksim.h) in addition to /opt/openrisc/bin (e.g. export PATH=/opt/or1ksim/include:/opt/openrisc/bin). You can also consider using the prebuilt binaries, but I've had problems building other projects (graphics accelerator) using them instead of building from source. |

Sorry, the path example should be
export PATH=/opt/openrisc/bin:/opt/or1ksim/bin:/opt/or1ksim/include:$PATH You'll need to install or1ksim before the toolchain. |

Hello, Can you tell me the exact version numbers of the simulator and toolchain components (GCC, GDB, etc.) You used for the installation? I'm also planning to install them on Ubuntu 12.04, and I want to make sure not to have errors because of version mismatch issues. Thank You! Gabriel |
