Hi Everybody,

I would like to start implementing the OPenRisc processor on the ordb2a-ep4ce22 FPGA Development board on Windows OS. To do that I am planning to use Wubi to install Ubuntu on Windows and trying installing the OpenRISC_Ubuntu_VirtualBox-image on top of it. Does anyone have experience on doing this, and do you think it would work? Thank you.

Regards,
Cleber.

Hi,

On windows, you can use the windows version of Virtualbox (get at https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads) and add the vdi file to use.

Yes, after a while I finally realized that, thank you :-) But I can't stop wondering if it wouldn't be faster running the files image on Ubuntu itself, even through Wubi, since there would be just one OS competing for the host's resources. Any guesses?

I don't know if running on Ubuntu will be faster than running on VirtualBox, but in my opinion, the speed depend on the way of processing the vdi file, and it's convenience to use VirtualBox because you don't need to install Ubuntu. You can freely configure RAM size, CPU, save state, etc. on VirtualBox when you need.
