I've never done any designs except through schematic entry (I haven't done any "real" work in the field for 20 years). I have a Xilinx xc3s200a design all done (via schematic entry) but I want to add an I2C master to the device for some extra external devices.
I downloaded an I2C core from the site, and I can't find any information on how to add it to the design. The core I picked includes a I2C/trunk/rtl/vhdl (and verilog) directories with several files, and the readme says they "need to be compiled in order". I was assuming I'd just define a sympbol, drill into it selecting a VHDL or Verilog source, and paste a single file into ISE, but with multiple files, I don't know how to proceed, and I can find no "idiots guide". The documentation included with the core describes the program interface, operation, etc. but not usage. This is a hobby project, so no offers of consulting, please! |
