Dear fellow readers,
whenever I look for stuff on this site, it is outdated, unmaintained , does not compile, etc: in other words : useless. There are 30 different processor projects, in different states of uselessness. The only difference between these "projects" is the time it takes to realize that the code is useless. I only see two options: somebody cleans this mess up, or close opencores.org, which would save a lot of time from people who try to find something useful here. Regards Martin |

in other words : useless. Thats the reason that we have the OCCP program. It identifies projects that meet a certain minimum standard so you don't have to slug through all the junk to find a few gems. I would suggest moving these into a separate area so as to reduce the clutter. Remember, 90% of anything is crap but on the internet that goes up to 95%. John Eaton |

Martin,
NOTE: I am not affiliated with OpenCores... I'm just a user... I happen to disagree with you... Quite a bit... Beyond the seemingly endless end-of-semester emails from students that obviously waited too long to do their work, and that come here for a complete solution to their term project, I find the site very useful, and I commend the folks that run opencores.com for providing a place for folks to work collaboratively on Open Source IP... Now... Addressing your problem... You obviously came here looking for something that you didn't find... People don't work here to create ready made solutions for "Martin"... The world isn't all about you... If you find something that doesn't work... Fix it and submit the fix... That's how open source works... If you don't have time, you want ready made solutions to your problem, and you don't want to do your own work, then don't use the site. Either purchase your IP outright, or pay someone to do the job for you... It's pretty simple. If you're really unhappy, start your own site, then you can run it the way you want it run... Otherwise... Thanks for your opinion... (what a great way to start a Tuesday morning... To the folks running OpenCores... Thank you for your investment in the Open Source community... It is greatly appreciated...)

Regards Martin I'm glad it is not up to you to do that. Quite a few cores published here are being used in Universities and Design Houses. Why don't you publish some work that is up to your standards? - Jonny |
