I am working in interfacing Sitara Processor from texas instruments onto the PCI bus(sitara processors does not support inbuilt PCI).
Can I interface AM3358 with a commercial PCI controller like PCI9054. Do I need to add any logic in between Sitara and PCI9054. Please Explain why do i need a logic in between Can anyone help me out? Regards Viswanath |

Viswanath,
I would love to help you here, but I'm not sure I can. While I have worked on some similar projects, I have no specific experience with either the TI Sitara nor the Avago PCI9054.
I took a quick look at the Avago PCI9054 data sheets this morning. I did not find any really complete specification to answer your question. It appears as though the chip is designed to interface some specific devices to a PCI bus. I did not see enough information to suggest that the chip could interface a generic bus to a PCI bus. In other words, if you didn't recognize the Sitara bus there, then I would be very concerned.
Were I in your shoes, where to go next might depend upon where I was in the design process. If I had committed to the PCI9054 part, I might contact Avago's tech support to see what they might offer. If I had not committed to the part, I might broaden my search for parts which could bridge the two until I found either something that I knew would work, or something that I knew I could make work.
I know this probably isn't what you are looking for, but it's the two cents I can offer today.

Hi. I understand this post is old but perhaps will assist a future reader. The PCI9054 device was developed by PLX and then PLX was purchased by Avago and now under the Broadcom name.
A copy of the datasheet is posted here: http://www.nikhef.nl/~peterj/datasheets/9054db-1C.pdf https://www.broadcom.com/products/pcie-switches-bridges/usb-pci/io-accelerators/pci9054 See a few PCI9054 based boards with FPGA from Aliexpress. |
