Hi,

I want to create a USB interface to an existing PCB. The existing PCB
has 10 I/O pins. What is the best way to do this?

I am considering attaching a board which contains a transceiver and
then using the USB 1.1 function core and PHY core to implement the
remaining USB functionality.

Is there a way that I can use the USB 2.0 function core using some
external device to implement the remaining logic?

You can use the USB 2.0 function core with the UTMI phy module from the USB 1.1 core project if you want to use it with a 1.1 phy (I've tested this on actual hardware). I'd recommend using the 1.1 core though as it's smaller, and appears to have fewer bugs atm. I'm using the 2.0 core in a product at the moment and it took quite a few changes to get it working properly, but I've never used the 1.1 core.
