Hello,
I have to use a I2C slave core for a design I am doing in cadence IC. Since this is the first time I am using a core from opencores.org.Can you please explain to me how I can test this particular core and then move it to cadence (unix) so that I can add it to my chip? The project says to use Icarus Verilog and then download GTKWave. But it doesn't have the correct link for GTKWave. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Hi jhasan,
There are several i2c cores available on opencores, but from your description I'm guessing you are looking at this one. http://opencores.org/project,i2cslave . Is that correct? Here's a link to GTKWave http://gtkwave.sourceforge.net If you are using one of the more common linux distributions, it is probably already packaged for you and can be installed with your package manager. There also seems to be a link to a windows version on the page. After you have installed the tools, you should run "sim/build_icarus.bat" and "sim/run_icarus.bat" to compile and run the test bench. You can view the generated wave dump with "sim/viewWave.bat" afterwards. Will that help you a bit further? |

Does anyone know what is the minimum core clock
frequency that I have to provide to the i2c slave core and i2c master core if I want to run the i2c SCL at 400kHz? This is for a low power design. |
