Hello everyone,
I am an electrical engineer graduate ( Technion - Israel Institute of Technology ), majoring in computer networks, microprocessors and nano-technology. I am willing to contribute to open cores by joining projects. If there is someone here, that is running a project and requires help with it then please let me know - I am looking for someone to help out, and also to learn from! So if you think you could lead me into your project and mentor me, then please PM me. I'll be glad to send you my profile, skills and whatever you need! Thanks! Yousef P.S i apologise if this isnt the place to post similar posts! |

Hi Yousef, Contributors are always wanted for OpenRISC. Take a look at its Wiki: http://opencores.org/or1k/OR1K:Community_portal or join the IRC discussion at #openrisc on freenode.net. Best wishes, Jeremy

Thanks.
Jeremy: i will be GLAD to help with the openRISC project. the problem is that everytime i look at the wiki, i find huge deal of it not updated when the last update was like a year ago or more.. (this includes the guideline for contributors). tylerapohl : i will take your advice and will start with smaller, less advanced projects. but something like the t80 processor doesnt have a specification or a describtion document.. im looking for something with atleast some guidlines regarding the design |

what type of development kit are you starting with? if you purchase the altera de2 development kit i have a project that will compile in quartus II so you can load z80 code and start running. i have not got around to organizing it and subitting to opencores yet. it uses the t80 which is the z80 and follows the spec perfectly. it has two serial ports and a bootloader that you can download z80 code to it. from there you can add external vhdl circuits like sdcard support or whatever you want. it would be a good place to test various simpler verilog or vhdl projects especailly if you know your way around 8bit assembly. i like the z80 for this because you can easily test various controllers out by using ports. anyways good luck and have fun.

Yes here is a link to the board I purchased. http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/P0528/P0528-ND/1833602
Its the BOARD DEV DE1 ALTERA. CycloneII evaluation kit. You will not need a programmer it is buildin to the board using usb. I use the QuartusII http://www.altera.com/products/software/quartus-ii/web-edition/qts-we-index.html --> it is free IDE for verilog and VHDL. This IDE software is very feature rich and easy to learn. If you find Quartus II version 9.0 via torrent on ISOHUNT.com it has the simulator for testing VHDL and verilog code. The newer versions are missing the simulator which I find handy. |

Hi Jo, Take a look at the OpenRISC forum and the OpenRISC wiki. Lots of ideas there. Then just do something and post it as a patch. If you find it useful, there is an active IRC community, channels #opencores and #openrisc on freenode.net. HTH Jeremy |
